Hasitha Wijewardena, a popular TV journalist of TV Derana interviewd young artist Yohani De Silva about her you tube success of cover song “Manike Mage Hithe”. It has been viewed by over 50 million users on YouTube todate.

This is the first time a Sri Lankan song has received such a massive response on YouTube, and the popularity of her songs in India has led to her reaching a vast audience.

28 years old Yohani is also a television personality, actress, lyricist, model, entrepreneur, rapper, and social media star. She was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Her father is on the post of General in the Army of Sri Lanka and her Mother is a housewife, She is also has a younger sister named Shavindri De Silva, who Is pursuing her career as a doctor.

She completed her schooling at Vishaka College, Colombo and also attended a local high school from where she graduated in high school. She enrolled herself at Sir John Kotelawala Defence University for higher education. She also completed higher studies in UK and Australia and completed Bachelor of Science Degree In Logistics Management. She used to sing all kinds of songs like rap songs pop songs classical all she likes.

The Sinhala song, which initially featured Sri Lankan female singer-rapper Yohani and Satheeshan and was produced by Chamath Sangeeth in July 2020, has also become a new phenomenon in India, Bangladesh, Middle East and Maldives because of its joyful tune and Sinhala rap.

The song’s success on streaming platforms and social media prompted its Tamil and Malayalam versions to be released last month. It is also becoming popular in Africa.

After receiving widespread praise online, the song was recently redone in English and Hindi.

Amitabh Bachchan, a Bollywood legend, expressed his admiration for the song. The Megastar wrote that he loved the song so much that he left it “playing in a loop the whole night” and it was “impossible to stop listening”.
