Transport Minister “Bimal Ratnayake” has reaffirmed that people of diverse sexual orientations live within the country and emphasized that they should never face discrimination. He clarified that the government has not taken any steps to introduce laws targeting such individuals.
Minister Ratnayake stated that the present administration upholds political ethics and moral principles free from racism, and is committed to promoting universal values consistent with Buddhism and all other religions.
He made these remarks while speaking to the media following a meeting held at the Anuradhapura District Secretariat.
The Minister further noted that the government’s focus is on safeguarding human rights and guiding children through non-violent means. He also dismissed recent criticisms suggesting new laws were being introduced, claiming that such comments often come from individuals involved in promoting narcotics within the country.
