WHO head Ghebreyesus self-isolates after contact with COVID-19

Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the chief of the World Health Organisation (WHO) has gone into self-isolation, after coming in contact with a person that tested positive for the virus.

The WHO Director-General is “well”, without any symptoms, but will follow the health protocols foreseen by UN specialised body, and work from home in self-isolation.

“I have been identified as a contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19,” Adhanom-Ghebreyesus wrote in a Twitter post on Sunday evening, adding “I am well and without symptoms.”

“It is critically important that we all comply with health guidance. This is how we will break chains of COVID-19 transmission, suppress the virus, and protect health systems,” the WHO chief wrote in another tweet, as the pandemic has infected almost 47 million people worldwide, leading to over 1,2 million deaths.
