Sri Lanka extends ban on entry of passenger flights till April 7

The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) has extended the ban on passenger aircrafts arriving in the country.

All passenger arrivals at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake which was suspended for two weeks has been extended till April 7, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said. The suspension of the flight arrival at the airport was to be lifted on March 31. The decision to extend the suspension has been taken by the CAA after considering the country's current pandemic situation. All passenger transit operations have been stopped for the moment. All import and export operations are to continue without interruption.

However, the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) is open to flights heading to other countries carrying migrant passengers and emergency flight landings.

In addition, BIA will remain open for aircraft landing due to technical difficulties, to obtain food and fuel and flights without passengers, CAASL said.
