As Sri Lanka celebrated its 76th anniversary of the proclamation of Independence, a number of world leaders, Heads of State and Government, Foreign Ministers and Legislators extended their well wishes and greetings to President Ranil Wickremasinghe and the Government and the people of Sri Lanka.
World leaders, including His Holiness Pope Francis, King Charles III of the UK, US President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Indian President Droupadi Murmu congratulated Sri Lanka on its 76th Independence Day, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
Emperor Naruhito of Japan, President Vladimir Putin of Russia, President Yun Suk Yeol of South Korea, President Tharman Shanmugaratnam of Singapore, President of Libya Dr. Mohamed Y. AL-Menfi, Governor General of Australia General David Hurley as well as the President of Pakistan, President of Bangladesh, Emir of the State of Kuwait were among other leaders who congratulated Sri Lanka.
