Former Diplomat and Senior journalist Bandula Jayasekara passes away

Bandula Jayasekara, former Sri Lankan diplomat and senior journalist, passed away this morning in Sri Lanka. He was  suffering from Myelodyplastic Syndrome, a type of blood cancer, for the past 14 months.

He was planning to do his bone marrow transplant in Singapore since his transplant cannot be done in Sri Lanka.  Last year, close Family members and well-wishers started to raise funds for his transplant in Singapore.  However, COVID-19 came in between and the transplant got delayed.

As a diplomat, Jayasekara has been a proud flag bearer for Sri Lanka. He served as the Consulate General for Sri Lanka in Australia.  As a journalist, he continued to give a voice to the voiceless. He was hosting his program "Pathikada" on Sirasa TV for number of years.

Folowing is one of his last interview with his own TV program “Pathikada”
