Eliyantha White passes away due to Covid

Controversial self-proclaimed spiritual healer Eliyantha White, who was infected with the COVID-19 virus, passed away on Wednesday evening, sources said.

White was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo after being infected with the virus a few weeks ago.

The controversial White, recently drew criticism from the public for dropping pots into the rivers, as part of a spiritual healing to eradicate the COVID-19 virus from Sri Lanka and  White himself was seen hurling a pot into the Madu river.

This was followed by former Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Minister Udaya Gammanpila and Minister Prasanna Ranatunga also doing the same as part of religious prayer.

Last year he claimed that the world had witnessed a virus similar to COVID-19, some 83,000 years ago.

He said that he had already conducted tests in this regard using yogic powers and further explained that he had gathered details about treatment that had been used to combat the spread of the virus which had prevailed 83,000 years ago. He added that based on the information that he had collected, he had carried out a process of blessings towards effectively tackling the spread of the ongoing pandemic.

Last year, he claimed that he had used his powers towards swiftly treating Sri Lanka’s biggest COVID-19 cluster.

He was the private doctor of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe. White’s claim to fame came when Indian super star Sachin Tendulkar once declared that a “miracle doctor” in Sri Lanka had cured him of chronic pain.
