Veteran musician, singer and actor Lakshman Wijesekera has passed away on 12th November at the age of 73. He was undergoing treatment for an illness at the time of the death.
Veteran singer and musician Lakshman Wijesekera, who made a significant contribution to the field of art in Sri Lanka. Late Lakshman Wijesekera’s works which include Bala Lamawarune, Delwu Pahana, Athi de Athi Setiyen, Sina Pipena, Sanda Pane Welitalawe Sura, Oba Mata Tharuwaki, Detha Depalana and Supem Hegum brought him to the spotlight.
He was also an accomplished music director who contributed with music direction to teledramas Wilambeetha, Dangayanta panmanai and Tikiri and Ungi.
The remains of the late musician will be kept his residence in Mount Lavinia tomorrow (13) and the final rites will be performed at the Mount Lavinia Public Cemetery on Sunday (14).
